“So the indoor pool leads to the outdoor pool?” Sandro, Dag’s mate, asked, smiling widely. “This door opens if it’s nice enough out and you can swim back and forth?”

“Yes, with waterslides from the second floor,” I answered as I cut into my steak. I’d managed not to have any alone time with my mate since I’d brought out the plans, but all of my brothers could smell the tension and the feelings going on between us… Which was leading them to give Seth dirty looks.

And I was pretty sure Seth was going to melt into his seat soon.

“Funny how another pool and swimming conversation is coming up around you and my mate,” Dag drawled, giving Seth a flat out hostile glance.

“Enough, Dag,” Sandro hissed under his breath, smacking my brother in the chest. “Don’t make this awkward for him or me. I’m trying to get to know your brother too.”

“Wait, explain what you meant?” I demanded of Dag, glancing between the two humans. Seth’s color took on a greenish hue, and he opened his mouth to reply but Dag was faster.

“Your mate wanted to bang mine and tried to do it right in front of me.”

“That is not what happened or what was going on!” Seth bellowed, jumping up and smacking his hands on the table. His eyes darted around from Sandro’s flushed cheeks to Dag’s frown to whatever expression was on my face and then shook his head. “Wow, this was fun. I have to go figure out whatever’s up with Danny. I can’t even sit for any more of this freeze out and now getting attacked.” He focused on me then and sadness filled his eyes. “And you wondered why I didn’t just assume I was moving into your estate or had veto rights.”

I watched him throw down his napkin and storm out like watching a car accident I couldn’t do anything to stop.

“But you could stop him and this,” Michael consoled.

I shot him a nasty look. “I hate when you guys do that. I’m the worst at keeping my emotions at bay to push angels out or focused or whatever, and you guys hear everything when I’m upset.”

“Welcome to what the rest of us deal with,” Petro offered with a sad smile. “Seth is a good man, a good friend. I do not know what Dagfinn is referring to, but he would never pursue a mated man.”

“He didn’t,” Sandro growled. “I didn’t know Dag was my mate at the time, nor did Seth. Your brother got jealous and was being a jerk, pointed out that he smelled Seth’s desire for me or something. Seth admitted he liked me but thought I wasn’t interested. That was it. Wow, Seth liked to look at me. Oh no, start tons of shit for no reason. Good one.”

“Right, so that might have been—”

“Enough for you to end up sleeping on the couch tonight? Yes, I agree,” Sandro cut off, staring down my brother until he nodded. Wow. I’d never seen anyone put Dag in his place like that before.
